Justina Vaitkuté, contralto

Originally from a Lithuanian family of classical musicians, Justina was born and raised in Rome, and ultimately completed her master’s degree with honours in singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria) with Prof. Elena Pankratova. She is currently studying concert singing (MA) with Prof. Holger Falk in Graz. In 2023 Justina was part of the opera studio: Accademia “Rodolfo Celletti” in Martina Franca (lead by Sebastian Schwarz and Fabio Luisi) and has since then been coached by Sherman Lowe and Vivica Genaux. She attended masterclasses with Hedwige Fassbender, Cheryl Studer and Andreas Scholl. In October 2024 she won the prize “Best oratorio performance of a german aria” at the San Colombano competition in Piacenza, Italy. Justina performs regularly as a soloist with various baroque ensembles and festivals: Musikfest Stuttgart, Händel-Festspiele (Karlsruhe), Styriarte (Graz), Bachwoche Stuttgart, NODO (Ostrava),Festival della Valle d’Itria (Martina Franca) and works with conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann, Walter Kobera, Marcus Merkel, Gerrit Prießnitz, Gary Graden and Jiri Rozen.

Her repertoire includes: Händel’s Bradamante (Alcina) and Disinganno (Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno), Bononcini’s Angelo (La decollazione di Giovanni Battista), Tchaikovsky’s Olga (Onegin), Rossini’s Arsace (Semiramide) and numerous works from Johann Sebastian Bach. Her affinity to contemporary music led her to perform in venues such as the Bayreuth Festival, Oper Graz, NODO amongst others and in October 2024, she made her Debut in the Neue Oper Wien.
